Indian Wedding Colours have moved beyond the traditional tones of Reds and Yellows and we, for one, are glad about that. In 2017, we saw some stunning Wedding Décor Set-ups in refreshing pastel shades, (hello #Virushka!) which became our favourite of the weddings of the season. While most of the gorgeous #Virushka wedding was pastel, we spotted pops of violet in the flowers and the prints, which got us excited about Pantone’s colour of the year for 2018 – Ultraviolet!
International weddings have already caught on to this new global colour and the Indian wedding industry is catching up fast. Violet as a wedding colour is not new to us. In fact, we’ve grown up seeing brides and bridesmaids wear this colour on different occasions, (Remember Madhuri Dixit’s iconic violet saree from Hum Aapke Hain Koun?) So, if you’re also bored of the standard reds, pinks and oranges; give ultraviolet a chance and add it to your wedding mood board. Here are some simple ways on how you can experiment with this global colour without going overboard!
Ultraviolet is a great addition to your wedding décor colours but the most important factor is to not go overboard. This is a rich colour and will look best when balanced with other lighter shades. You can add ultraviolet to your floral table centrepieces, to your wedding stage in the form of elegant drapes and to your mandap in the form of dry flowers and twigs. Remember, the décor colour should compliment your outfit choices and not overpower them.
Ultraviolet is a great colour for different pre and post-wedding events, such as your engagement party, the cocktail night or even your reception dinner. Many designers already have great outfit options in this colour and this trend is going to grow through the year.
