I grew up watching sitcoms and still enjoy the occasional marathon of my favourite shows on my laptop. Most of them feature the central character (or one of the central character’s) as the dad. Whether it is the single dad raising his three daughters in Full House or the father who tells the tale of how he met the mother in excruciating detail (How I Met Your Mother).

Much like our favourite characters our father has been the central one in our life. The one we respect and know will always come through. All without a red cape and blue tights! Here is what you can do this father’s day to make them feel special:

  1. Dry Cleaning – Let your father suit up! His best suit that has been his faithful companion through his life’s journeys. Get it dry cleaned from Urban Company and take him out for a nice dinner.
  2. Shoe Spa – His pair may have worn out, but he hangs on to them much like you hang on to the memory of him buying you your first pair. Gift him a shoe spa from Urban Company that will transform his worn out pair into one that is as good as new!
  3. Nutritionist or a Dietician – Unless your version of a great dad is Homer Simpson, you need to realise that the wobbling belly of your dad is not a good sign! Gift them a healthier (and a longer) life by booking a nutritionist or a dietician from UrbanClap.
  4. Yoga at Home – The international yoga day is just around the corner and it may remind you of your father’s joint pains and shortness of breath after a long walk. Gift him a yoga instructor for a better lifestyle.
  5. Car Cleaning – When Eric’s dad handed the keys to his Camero in That 70’s Show, it reminded me of my father’s obsession with his Maruti. Gift a car cleaning service to your dad and show him you care about the ONE THING he cares about.
  6. Chef at home – Like Phil Dunphy (Modern Family) does your dad believe in ‘keeping the rhythm in your feet and a little party in your shoulders’? Well, this is the day to give your dad a great party by booking a house party chef cook up a feast for him while you can party.

From the wise to the wise cracking, these TV dads have reminded us of our own fathers. The sitcom dads are reminiscent of how I have strongly believed that all it takes him is 22 minutes to solve any problem and the day ends with a smile.

This fathers day, gift your real life hero an Urban Company experience while binging on your favourite reel life dads.
