Children are our future. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the future beholds only brighter shades. For it is up to us to model their minds into believing how their present will lead us all there. Every child is special with his or her unique set of skills, and it is this individuality that will create art that is worth as much as our collective future.

We have associated with many NGOs working with children in the past. So the experience wasn’t new when we tied up with an NGO in Mumbai. But what we did with them was. It also made me a lot less cynical and a lot more hopeful. And I could already paint our future in my head.

First off, in the true Urban Company style we decided to give their NGO a makeover. Our house cleaning services started the process and our plumbers and carpenters took care of the details. We also conducted yoga and fitness sessions for the children, free of cost. After all, a bright mind does need a fit body. But the fun was just getting started.

Amidst the giggles and the excitement, we cuddled up and watched a movie together which was screened exclusively for the children and their caretakers within the premises. Following the movie screening at the orphanage, the children were in for another surprise!

While our professionals were hard at work at the orphanage, we decided to venture out with the kids. As we drove towards our destination I asked the children, what they wanted to be when they grow up. They could hardly contain their dreams within just one word and started to tell me the reasons behind the dream as well. “I want to be a doctor, because I want to help people.”, said Sohan.

We partnered with KidZania Mumbai – a Global Indoor Theme park that inspires, educates & empower kids, helping them understand & manage their world better. At Kidzania, they were given a chance to experience different professions via role-play activities. In other words, they got to live their dreams and experience what it would be like.

Speaking on the CSR opportunity, Mr. Viraj Jit Singh – Chief Marketing Officer, KidZania India, said,At KidZania its our mission to promote positive change and build strong community awareness among our children. In India we have two programs: “Kids for a Cause” where our kid visitors are empowered to contribute positively to society and the “Kids for a Better World” where we target to host at least 10,000 less privileged children each calendar year and ensure they get the opportunity to experience KidZania and understand the world around them better. We are extremely happy to partner with Urban Company for their unique initiative.”

Needless to say it was a wonderful day out that gave us all a glimpse of the world that can actually be. Very bright indeed.
